Summer of 2001
We met when a mutual friend organized a big trip to the Bronx Zoo. We bonded over a mutual love for Japanese monster movies and had a great time goofing off together. And so it began.

The Engagement
In the summer of 2006, coinciding with the 5th anniversary of the Fateful Zoo Trip, we went on vacation to Northern California. We explored San Francisco, and then rented a red Mini Cooper convertible and had a blast touring wine country and the Sonoma and Marin coastline.
      On the evening of our anniversary we camped at the Point Reyes national seashore. Because we’d stopped at Tomales Bay to pick up a bag full of Hog Island oysters right from the source, we didn’t arrive at Point Reyes until the sun set. We hiked the mile and a half to the campsite in the dark, following the trail by feel and faint moonlight. Adventure! We ate oysters and drank beer by flashlight. And in the morning we went for a walk on the foggy, deserted beach, and there Tim proposed.
